EasyRoads privacy policy

Applies to the EasyRoads iPhone app, website and routing service · Updated 5 September 2026

EasyRoads has no user accounts, advertising, cross-app tracking or code that sells personal data. Location is used to plan or guide a route, not to build an activity history.

Data used to provide a route

Search: the words you search and a Great Britain bounding box are sent to the EasyRoads service and its Photon place-search provider. EasyRoads does not save search queries in its application database.
Planning: selected start, destination and up to two stops, their coordinates, and vehicle name and measurements are sent to EasyRoads.
Guidance: choosing Current location sends that coordinate once as the planning start. Ordinary guidance updates then stay on the iPhone; the current location is sent again only when you explicitly ask for replacement routes after leaving the selected line.

Website

The public website is a static product and policy page. It does not plan routes, request location access, create an account or store browser preferences.

Data stored on the device

The app stores the vehicle profile and active selected-route session so those choices survive relaunches. Stopping guidance clears the active session. The operating system may retain normal app and network caches.

Service logs

EasyRoads records sampled response outcomes and service timings to operate and diagnose the service. Worker invocation logs are disabled. Router logs can contain route coordinates, request-processing details and the vehicle restriction values used for a calculation; they are not joined to an EasyRoads account or advertising identity. Cloudflare controls their storage and documents a Workers Logs retention limit of up to seven days, depending on plan. The Photon service receives search queries and normal network metadata to answer them.

Optional beta drive data

“Share beta drive data” is off by default. Your choice stays on across drives and relaunches until you switch it off, and applies to drives started while it is on. EasyRoads saves a small aggregate checkpoint during each drive and sends it when possible. If the app closes before a drive ends, it may send the saved partial aggregate the next time you open it. Each recording segment has a random identifier used only for that segment. The data contains timing, GPS quality and guidance-error measurements, plus app and route-model versions. It does not contain locations, route geometry, road or place names, or an account or device identifier. Saved checkpoints are protected on your iPhone, excluded from backup, and retried when connected. Switching off stops collection and deletes unsent data; it does not recall data already received. Cloudflare Analytics Engine stores received summaries for three months.

Recorded test drives

EasyRoads uses recorded physical-iPhone drives to test guidance before release. Recording starts only when the tester turns it on before a drive. The recording stays on the iPhone and is excluded from backup. It can contain app and route versions, aggregate reliability measures, locations, route geometry and matching events. The app creates a local evidence bundle when recording ends; the tester chooses whether to export or delete it. EasyRoads does not upload these detailed evidence bundles. Optional beta sharing sends only the separate aggregate summary described above.

Past research-drive summaries

A read-only check on 4 September 2026 found 20 retained easyroads_research_drives rows, from 2026-09-02 16:36:12 UTC to 2026-09-04 09:13:11 UTC. EasyRoads no longer sends new rows to that retired dataset. Cloudflare Analytics Engine retains data for three months. This historical detail remains until a read-only query after 4 December 2026 confirms that no retained rows remain.

Cloudflare hosts the EasyRoads website, API and routing service.
Photon by komoot supplies place search.
OpenStreetMap contributors supply map and routing data; OpenFreeMap supplies map tiles.

Your choices

You can plan in the iPhone app without granting location access by searching for a start. EasyRoads asks for When In Use location access when you choose Current location or tap “Start guidance”. You can deny or revoke that permission in iOS Settings. You can clear the active route by stopping guidance and remove all locally stored EasyRoads data by deleting the app.

Questions

A public support contact will be added here and to the App Store listing before distribution. Because EasyRoads has no account identity, include only the minimum information needed to answer a request.
